Make sure the tag is physically with you before you clear it from your Apple ID. Removing it while it sits on luggage or a bike you cannot reach will stop tracking without helping you find that item.

1. Remove The AirTag From Find My — Open the Find My app, tap Items, choose the tag, swipe up, and tap Remove Item. Confirm that you want to unlink it from your Apple ID.

5. Set Up The AirTag Again — Hold the tag near your iPhone or iPad and wait for the setup card. Give it a clear name and attach it to an item you can reach easily while you watch it in Find My.

If you plan to give the tag to someone else, complete the removal and reset steps, then hand it over so that person can pair it with their own Apple ID on their device.

Check Privacy And Network Settings That Hide Tags

The Find My network depends on location sharing and background activity. When privacy options get locked down too far or power saving modes stay on, air tag not showing up reports often trace back to these choices.
